Nemcha attends 'Yarthot Kazip' celebration

Textiles, Commerce & Industry and Cooperation minister Nemcha Kipgen attended the 17th "Yarthot Kazip" celebration, a Tangkhul annual get-together, which was organised by Tangkhul Katamnao Long Delhi (TKLD) on Saturday at JLN Stadium, Weightlifting Auditorium, New Delhi.
Addressing the gathering, Nemcha stressed that such occasions are a celebration of promoting one's individuality, culture and community and a celebration for continuously building and rebuilding one's individuality, culture and community.
While pointing out that culture and community have special place and value for individuals and collectives, the minister appealed to all those residing away from their native place to uphold their rich culture and traditions to further promote it to the outside world.
Nemcha further highlighted the importance of women in the overall development of the society, saying that the participation of women in active politics will lead to co-optation of women into men dominated politics while non-participation of women in active politics will lead to marginalisation of women in politics.
Women must also continuously and actively engage in politics of change and transformation for bringing about gender sensitive political agenda, gender equality and gender jus tice, she added.
During the event, the minister highlighted the various welfare schemes and programmes taken up by the government of Manipur for inclusive development.
Kshetrigao MLA Sheikh Noorul Haasan attended the event as guest of honour while Hibu Tamang, joint commissioner of police/SPUNER cum nodal officer for NE people in Delhi, Ngahanyui Zimik, deputy commissioner Revenue Ministry of Finance, and Raymond Shimrah, chief manager Export-Import of India were the special guests.
