Commission will deliver justice: Salam Ulka

Manipur State Commission for Women (MSCW) chairperson Salam Ulka has vowed to uphold the truth and help deliver justice to victims of crimes against women and children.
The 3-month long awareness programme on menstrual hygiene organised by MSCW under the aegis of National Commission for Women culminated at The New Horizon Public School, Khonghampat on Friday.
Speaking at the closing function, Salam Ulka noted that women often suffer from cancer and other related ailments due to lack of awareness on menstrual hygiene and non-usage of sanitary pads.
As such, the 3-month long awareness programme was organised to inform young girls about menstruation and its related issues.
She then said that the Commission is taking up steps to deliver justice to the victims of gender crimes, which are on the rise.
The Commission has taken up a case against the forced elopement of a young woman by the founder of Saina Institute of Medical Sciences without her consent.
The victim's statement has been recorded and the man has been summoned to appear before the Commission on August 31.After listening to statements of both sides, justice will be delivered regardless of gender, she conveyed.
The valedictory function was also attended by MSCW members Thumlip Tiningpham Monsang, Lourembam Dayabati and The New Horizon Public School founder secretary Kheroda Konsam as the presidium members.
