CM updates COCOMI, UNC on NRC, population panel

In pursuance of their demand for updating NRC and setting up Manipur State Population Commission, a joint team of Coordinating Committee on Manipur Integrity (COCOMI) and United Naga Council (UNC) called on chief minister N Biren at the latter's bungalow here on Friday.
The joint team led by COCOMI coordinator Longjam Ratan and UNC president Kho John held talks with the CM about the need for updating NRC and setting up Manipur State Population Commission.
Speaking in this regard, Longjam Ratan recalled the resolution adopted for updating NRC and setting up Population Commission in the recently concluded 12th Manipur Legislative Assembly session.
The joint team of COCOMI and UCM went to meet the CM so as to get an update, if any, on the progress of the initiatives taken and to exert pressure for implementing it without further delay, he continued.
The CM on his side informed that home department is in the process of submitting documents to centre which might be forwarded within one-two days.
Moreover, he (CM) assured that the government is taking up all the necessary initiatives to set up the commission, Ratan conveyed.
