Importance of vocational skills highlighted at Weaving the Future 2.0 exhibition / sale

Highlighting the importance of people with vocational skills in the development of a society, W Jyotirmoy, Principal, Nambol L Sanoi College has asserted that academic activities alone cannot lead to progress.
W Jyotirmoy made this statement during the Weaving the Future 2.0 exhibition cum sale event held at the Fitness Centre Hall of Nambol L Sanoi College today.
Speaking on the occasion, W Jyotirmoy stated that parents must encourage children who are skilled in other vocations aside from studies.
Their skills must be nurtured with proper guidance and encouragement for the benefit of the society as a whole, he said.
The principal also focused on the necessity of vocational schools, adding that countries that emphasize on vocational learning are always ahead in the global race for development.
Citing the growing market and importance of handloom in the State, Mutua Bahadur, Director, Mutua Museum urged the State administration to introduce this topic of study in schools across Manipur.
He also called upon weavers and other relevant departments to look into the history of handloom weaving, the various designs used in different time periods etc.
The event was attended by Rangitabali Waikhom, Director, University & Higher Education and Hanglem Debala, secretary, Utlou Weavers' Cooperative Society Limited.
Around 30 stalls were set up during the exhibition cum sale.
Certificates were distributed to the students during the event and an interactive session was also conducted giving the students an opportunity to interact with Mutua Bahadur and glean valuable kinowledge from the Director.
