Moreh, August 26 2022:
Troopers of 5 Assam Rifles erected barbed wire fencing along Indo-Myanmar border in Moreh area to prevent illegal border movement between the two neighbouring countries.
During the lockdown for Covid-19 pandemic, state police put up barbed wire fencing along the border in Moreh area to prevent cross border movement as a measure to control Covid-19 transmission.
However, the wire fencing has been snapped at multiple locations making it easier for cross border movement and smuggling activities.
In a bid to regulate movement, troopers of 5 Assam Rifles constructed new barbed wire fencing along the border and put-up display boards that read 'Undemarcated Zone, No Indian to cross the boundary' and 'No auto/vehicle park in this zone, serious action will be taken against violators' to warn the public from crossing the fence.
Besides, AR is carrying out regular patrol both during day and night to check cross-border movement.
Mention may be made here that AR had intercepted numerous cross border smuggling of drugs along the Indo-Myanmar border in the past.
