Kakching, August 13 2021:
Volunteers of Kakching District United Clubs Organisation (KADUCO) seized 57 bags of urea, which were reportedly allocated to an MLA of an assembly constituency located in Imphal West district, from an area between Hiyanglam and Lamjao in Kakching district on Friday.
KADUCO secretary Maibam Manishwor Khuman told media persons that farmers of the district have been mounting pressure to the government, district administration and district agriculture officer to provide adequate amount of urea in time to the farmers.
The seizure of 57 Urea bags allocated to an MLA in Imphal West district, which was brought to Sugnu AC shows that the government has been allocating urea in ACs which do not need it while denying the same to the genuine farmers, he said.
The vehicle carrying the fertiliser was intercepted by KADUCO volunteers as they were suspicious of the consignment which was transported through an unusual route.
Upon questioning, they came to know that the urea bags were allocated to an MLA in Imphal West district.
The seized fertilisers have been handed over to volunteers of some clubs of Sugnu assembly constituency, he said.
KADUCO, however, did not disclose the name of the MLA to whom the seized Urea bags were reportedly allocated.
