20 AR should compensate for damaging vehicle: Village chief

Chikim village chief, Jamkhogin Haokip has said that FIR will be filed against 20 Assam Rifles if AR does not repair or compensate the vehicle owner whose car was stripped by Assam Rifles personnel at Tengnoupal.
Jamkhogin Haokip said one of his relatives, Paoginthang Haokip had gone towards Imphal with a cash of Rs 4 lakh for buying a vehicle yesterday.
He was told by personnel at Khudengthabi post that one person can have a maximum of Rs 2 lakh, so he had asked one of his friends to come with him.
However, they were stopped at Tengnoupal and detained while their vehicle was being subjected to intense search wherein the side doors and panels were all stripped, he added.
Jamkhogin added that the search was conducted on the basis of a wrong report.
He appealed 20 AR to compensate the cost of repairing the vehicle, otherwise FIR will be filed against them at Moreh Police Station and the issue will also be raised to Kuki Chief Association Tengnoupal district and Moreh block.
