BVP observes day

Bharat Vikas Parishad, Manipur Prant observed Patriots Day with Dr S Rajendra Singh, National vice president, BVP and B Krishna Kumar Sharma, secretary, BVP Imphal Branch as presidium members at Chingmeirong.
Speaking as the chief guest, Dr Rajendra Singh said that the Anglo-Manipuri War of 1891 is one of the most important events in the history of Manipur.
In the war against British colonial expansion, many Manipuris laid down their lives to save the dignity, honour and sovereignty of their motherland, he said and recalled that it was on this day in 1891, Yubraj Tikendrajit, Thangal General were hanged at Pheidabung, presently known as Bir Tikendrajit Park.
Patriots' Day is observed every year on August 13 to offer tribute to the martyrs in remembrance of their bravery and love for the motherland.
He appealed to everyone 'to remember our patriots and pledge to serve our motherland.
