Rich tributes paid to Lamyanba Irabot across state

Imphal, September 30 2021: Many organisations and local clubs observed the 125th birth anniversary of Lamyanba Hijam Irabot across the state on Thursday.

Cleanliness drive, organising competitions including on-the-spot painting, poetry recitation and quiz competition, literary programmes, felicitating farmers, extending items to old age homes and children's homes, floral tributes to photo/statue of Irabot and lighting candles, and cleanliness drives marked the observance.

Lalambung Makhong Youth Volunteers' Association with support from BJP Manipur Pradesh secretary Kongkham Vikramjit observed the birth anniversary along with a Seva Aur Samarpan programme of BJP at the club premises on Thursday.

Speaking at the event, Vikramjit hailed Irabot as one of the greatest leaders of Manipur, who stood for the poor and downtrodden people.

His ideologies are similar with that of PM Modi's thinking.

The state can achieve peace and development by following Irabot's footsteps, he said.

Later, rice were distributed to people under Seva Aur Samarpan programme of BJP.

Shiv Sena Manipur unit also observed the day at the party office with the party's state unit president M Tombi leading the participants in offering floral tributes to the photo of Hijam Irabot.

Commemorating the birth anniversary of Hijam Irabot, Wangjing Tentha A/C MLA and CM advisor Paonam Brojen unveiled a bust of Hijam Irabot at Wangjing Keithel during an observance function organised by Wangjing Tentha Development Committee on Thursday.

Apunba Ireipakki Maheiroi Sinpanglup (AIMS) observed the Birth Anniversary with organising the 7th Lamyanba Hijam Irabot Ningshing Spot Painting Competition' at the office premises of the student body at Kwakeithel Girls' High School on Thursday.

The painting competition was organised in three categories - open, class 9-12, and class 6-8.Altogether 150 students competed in the competition and winners were honoured with cash prizes and citations.

Social Upliftment Club Wangkhei Ningthem Pukhri Mapal also observed the day along with a cleanliness drive with participation from local residents.

Floral tributes were paid to the photo of Irabot in the evening at the club premises.

Netaji Memorial Club Khurai Kongpal Tinsid Road also'observed the day along with organising a painting competition for students.
