CM reaches out to Ukhrul, Jiribam

Striking a chord with the people of Ukhrul Assembly Constituency and with the Tangkhuls in general, Chief Minister N Biren Singh today declared, "I have a strong attachment with the Tangkhul people and I feel at home whenever I come here," while speaking at the flag hoisting ceremony of BJP candidate at Ukhrul AC Somatai Shaiza at Mission Ground, Alungtang, Ukhrul.
Addressing the gathering, the Chief Minister assured that he will personally invite Prime Minister Narendra Modi to attend the forthcoming Shirui Lily festival and elaborated on how the BJP led Government has brought development and has transformed the State in the last 5 years of its tenure.

The BJP's politics is centred around service to humanity, he said recalled how the election date was postponed from February 27 to February 28 as the previous date fell on a Sunday which otherwise a day of worship for the Christians.
This was to respect the tribal population of Manipur who are predominantly Christians, he added.
BJP candidate Somatai Shaiza also spelt out his vision to bring change in the Assembly Constituency and urged the people to give him a chance to serve and fulfil the dream of 'my people' .
The campaign kick off was also attended by Assam Minister Ashok Singhal, Rajya Sabha member Leishemba Sanajaoba, Ukhrul BJP president Thothing Kashung, BJP leaders, Karyakartas, supporters and Ukhrul denizens at the venue.
The Chief Minister who also attended the flag hoisting ceremony of the party's candidate at Uchathol in Jiribam Assembly Constituency, N Budhachandra, said that he will surely emerge victorious in the ensuing election and predicted that the Ex-MLA who is now the JD (U) candidate will come third.
Addressing a function after the ceremony at Uchathol ground, N Biren continued that the BJP has constructed one women market at Jiribam, will upgrade the Imphal-Jiribam road to a double lane and start constructing the JT road.
He then appealed to the gathering to contribute in developing Jiribam as a model district.
BJP Jiribam Mandal president in-charge Kh Haridash Singh, Rajya Sabha MP Leishemba Sanajaoba and Housing and Urban Affairs and Irrigation Minister of Assam Ashok Singhal among others attended the meeting.
