IOC GM inspects Sekmai bottling plant

Imphal, January 09 2016 : One General Manager of IOC's Mumbai office today visited the Sekmai LPG Bottling Plantandmade an assessment ofthe shortfalls and immediate requirements ofthe plant.

The General Manager came with a Senior Manager of IOC's North East Integrated Sales Office of Guwahati, informed one official of the Divisional Retail Sales Office, Imphal.

The two top officials made an assessment of the difficul-ties being encountered by the Sekmai LPG Bottling Plant and they also studied several measures which can improve operational capability of the plant.

The two officials would leave Imphal tomorrow.

It is said that there is a backlog of two/three months regarding distribution of LPG refills to the State's LPG consumers on account of deficits in bulk LPG transportation to the State.

These deficits in bulk LPG transportation is attributed to the State's law and order situation and frequent bandhs/ blockades.

Although there has been some improvement in distribution of LPG refills in the last couple of months, the supply rate has seen little improvement.

Corresponding to the improvement of LPG refill distribution, sale of refills in grey markets seem to be rising.

The situation demands all concemed authorities including law enforcing agencies to take up stringent measures.

Nonetheless, IOC has initiated certain measures to improve LPG supply rate to the State but these measures are not enough.

As a result of a joint initia-tive of IOC preservation of the park.

and the State Government, empty convoys of oil tankers and LPG carriers have started moving every day.

Unlike the earlier days where CRPF escorts did not allow movement of more than 50 TTs in a single convoy, up to 100 TTs move in a single convoy these days.

Meanwhile, the rate of LPG bottling has also improved considerably, informed the IOC official.

Altogether 2237 MT of LPG were shipped in to the State in December as against 2029 MT in November and 1921 MT in October.

The total volume of LPG bottled was 2244 MT in December, 2112 MT in November and 1815 MT in October.

However, the plant could not function properly in the months of July, August and September on account of the State's law and order situation, added the official.
