Imphal, January 09 2016 :
Kuki Students' Organization-Ghqs and All Naga Students' Association, Manipur (ANSAM) have today reminded the State Government about their January 21 deadline for solving the issue of 2006 batch of contract basis teachers of schools in hill districts.
KSO and ANSAM had served a deadline of January 21, 2016 to the Chief Minis-ter on December 14 last for solving the pending issue of 2006 batch contract teachers in hill districts.
The two bodies have warned of launching different forms of democratic agitation if the Govt fails to fulfil the demand, according to a joint statement issued by KSO Ghqs and ANSAM.
It stated that although the State Government had as-sured to fill up the vacant posts lying in schools in the hill districts, the same is yet to be fulfilled.
A consultative meeting of the two student bodies also decided to launch different forms of agitation if the Government fails to give positive response within the deadline, it added.
It is also vividly clear that the State Government is not bothering to solve the issue even after the JAC of contract teachers launched various forms of agitation like sit-in-protest, economic blockade, ban on National projects,
72 hrs bandh with the support of several civil organizations, it said.
The issue could take a serious turn if the authorities concerned
are not serious to solve the problem as soon as possible,
it cautioned.
The statement also recalled that a good number of teachers
were appointed on contract basis by the Directorate of Education-
S (Hills) following a MoU between the Government of
Manipur and ATSUM in 2006.
The MoU clearly states that the service of the teachers
appointed on contract basis will be utilized until the posts are
filled up on regular basis through normal recruitment or special
drive.
It further said that the appointments and engagement of this
contract basis teachers were made after due Advertisement and
also obtaining the finance memo from Finance Department
Govt of Manipur.
In addition to this, Professional Tax has
also been levied from the contract basis teachers.
It also alleged that the service extension order of this
contract basis teachers and payment of remuneration was made
only up to 2008.And thereafter no extension order had been
made despite of rendering their valuable service for the past
many years.
Against this backdrop, a joint consultative meeting of
ANSAM, KSO-Ghqs and JAC of contract teachers will be
held at TRI Complex, Chingmeirong on January 13 at 11 am.
