Athuan Abonmai murder case :: Amit Shah affirms actions : CM

Union Home Minister Amit Shah has assured to initiate all that are needful to deliver justice to Athuan Abonmai following a plea from Chief Minister N Biren Singh.
It is reported that the Chief Minister who is currently camping at New Delhi discussed several key issues besieging the State including the brutal murder of the former Zeliangrong Baudi president (Assam, Manipur and Nagaland) and strategy for the forthcoming State Assembly election which is due in early 2022.Speaking to The Sangai Express exclusively, N Biren admitted that the State force doesn't have the capacity to probe the Abonmai's murder case as some of the perpetrators are outside the State.
Following the plea of the State Government, the case has now been handed over to the National Investigation Agency (NIA) by the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) .

On being asked about the NSCN-IM carrying out unlawful activities in Manipur which is not covered by the ceasefire agreement between the Government of India and the former, the Chief Minister informed that Amit Shah has assured to look into the matter and ensure such activities don't repeat.
N Biren also said that he would talk to the representative JAC formed in connection with the case upon his return to Imphal on Sunday regarding their charter of demands.
The Chief Minister also stated that he took up other issues of the issues to the consciousness of the National party leader.
During the meeting, the Chief Minister reportedly urged the party leaders to release the Rs 522 crore meant for repairing structures which were affected or destroyed by flash flood.
After patient hearing, the Union Home Minister has assured of looking into this matter too.
It may be mentioned that the demands of the JAC include handing over the Abonmai murder case to the NIA.
The mortal remains of Abonmai, though an autopsy has been conducted, are still not claimed by the family members.
The meeting at New Delhi was attended by other party leaders such as BJP National general secretary (organisation) BL Santos, Manipur election in charge Bhupender Yadav, election co-incharge Ashok Singhal, North East Zonal secretary Ajay Jamwal, BJP Manipur pravari Dr Sambit Patra, State unit president A Sharda Devi, general secretary (organisation) Abhay Giri and Works Minister Thongam Biswajit Singh.
