One remanded to six days police

Ukhrul, October 02 2021:
The CJM Ukhrul remanded one LW Phaningmi (40) who was arrested yesterday on charges of sexual assualt to six days police custody.
LW Phaningmi, son of LW Luinam of Lunghar village, Ukhrul district, was arrested near Shirui village along NH-202 during a man hunt conducted by Ukhrul police following a complaint lodged by father of two minors citing that Phaningmi had sexually assaulted the minors on September 28 .
On receipt of the complaint, officer in-charge of Ukhrul Women police station, SI Vashum Meena lodged two cases under IPC and POCSO Act, 2012 and coordinated with Ukhrul police station to arrest the accused.
SI Marchang W of Ukhrul police station raided at all possible places including the house of the accused on the intervening night of Thursday and Friday before he was arrested during a random checking near Shirui village.
The accuced was produced before the Court of CJM Ukhrul via video conference today with a prayer for 6 days police remand for further investigation.
The Court of Ukhrul CJM after hearing the submission of the IO granted remand of the accused till October 7 .
