NDRF familiarisation exercise underway

The 12th battalion of National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) 12 P team in association with district administration of Chandel is organising a 15-day familiarisation exercise in Chandel district.
According to team leader inspector Titus Sekho, the 12th battalion of NDRF has been organising similar familiarisation exercises in different parts of the state to enable the team to provide swift rescue operations in times of unforeseen incidents or disasters.
They arrived in Chandel on Friday and they are camping at the battalion headquarters of 8th Manipur Rifles in Chandel.
The team which has ASI/GD Sanjoy Kumar Singh, ASI/GD S Dinesh Singh, ASI/GD L Brojen Singh and ASI/ RO Mangal Haokip among other personnel, would be assessing vulnerable areas of the district apart from conducting community awareness programme, school safety programme and capacity building programmes, he said.
Providing awareness on rescue techniques like Cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), drag, bleeding control, choking management, fire safety measures, improvise method related to flood, and stretchers are part of the community awareness and school safety programme.
A mock drill for rescuing human lives from badly damaged or collapsing building will be conducted in the district headquarters on October 6, he added.
