Police intensify search Ops ahead of VP's visit

Imphal, October 02 2021:
Security measures in Imphal area particularly in Imphal West district continue to be intensified in view of the scheduled visit of Vice President Venkaiah Naidu and other central leaders to the state.
According to a police source, a team of Imphal West district police led by additional SP (Ops) Amarjit Lamabam along with personnel of Singjamei PS carried out house-to-house search of about 65 households and from 6.30am till 8.30am.Altogether 160 locals were detained and verified during the operation but no one was arrested.
Another team of the district police led by DSP commando along with personnel of Lamphel PS also conducted similar searched simultaneously at Tera Khamnarn Leirak and MoirangHanuba Leirak and.
The team searched around 100 houses in the two localities and verified about 150 locals including six former UG members out on bail.
However, no arrest was made.
On the other-hand, a team of district police led by Commando OC P Achouba conducted cordon and search operation at Man crossing area of Thangal bazar from 7.50am to 8.20am and verified around 55 people.
The same team carried out search operation in Thangal bazar and Governor Road from 4pm till 5pm but no arrest was made although 130 people were briefly detained for verification.
The district police commando also conducted search operation at Changangei area from 4pm till 5.15pm during which around 75 persons of 45 houses of the locality were verified but no arrest was made.
While additional SP (Ops) Amarjit Lamabam led a search operation in Tera Khuraijam Leirak area from 4 pm till 5.20pm.The team searched 20 houses and 20 factories/shops and verified around 10 people.
There is no report of any arrest made.
