Imphal, September 06 2021:
BJP Manipur Pradesh executive member and intending candidate from Naoriya Pakhanglakpa assembly constituency in the 2022 election Oinam Malesh has said that Manipur could develop like Israel if every citizen of the state is allowed to settle in both the hills and the valley.
Geographically Israel is smaller than Manipur but has around 90 lakhs of populations, 60 lakhs more than Manipur, but the tiny country is one of the most developed in the world today, Malesh said and observed that Manipur could develop just like Israel if the indigenous people are not restricted from settling anywhere in the state.
Hence people should elect sincere and good leaders during election if they want to develop Manipur like Israel, Malesh said and asked as to how development could be brought in Manipur when money purchases votes in election.
Malesh stated this during a booth level committee meet for Polling Station No 5 organised by BJP Naoriya Pakhanglakpa and election committee at Ima Tamphaton Lairembi premises at Haobam Marak Lourembam Leikai on Monday.
During the meeting, Malesh pointed out 92 percent of the geographical area of Manipur is hills and the rest eight percent is valley.
However, valley people are not allowed to settle in the hills due to a law but both valley and hill people are allowed settlement in entire area of the valley and hence valley people could do nothing at hills.
On the other hand, the existing law and underdevelopment forced many Myanmarese nationals to flee the country and many of them crossed over to Manipur and settled.
These refugees from Myanmar will then figure in voters' list and demand citizenship, he cautioned.
According to Malesh, significant change has been brought in Manipur since the coming of the BJP-led government in the state and the fear in the minds of the people about fake encounter that happened during 15 years of Congress rule have vanished now.
Police are now very close to people.
In short, complete peace has almost returned in Manipur, he added.
The booth level meeting was also attended by Imphal West Adhakshya RK Taruni, Imphal East Adhakshya P Bimola, BJP Imphal West president Ph Phoni, BJP Manipur Pradesh secretary Kh Radhakishore, Naoriya Pakhanglakpa BJP Mandal president H Indrajit and election committee Naoriya Pakhanglakpa convener W Iboyaima.
