Aadhaar number collection campaign begins

As per the instruction of Chief Electoral Officer, Manipur and Election Commission of India, Programme for Collection of Aadhaar Number has been launched in the state, including in Imphal West and Imphal East districts on Monday.
Speaking to newspersons, CEO Manipur Rajesh Agrawal informed that the exercise will help in authenticating the entries of electors and to provide better electoral services in future at the time of elections.
He also appealed to all electors to come forward and furnish their Aadhaar numbers voluntarily either online through NVSP or Voter Helpline App or by submitting physically to their respective BLOs or to EROs.
In Imphal West district the campaign/programme for collection of Aadhaar number from the existing electors and citizens seeking registration in electoral rolls launched by the District Election Officer at Kombirei Hall at DC office Complex, Lamphel.
Around 100 persons including Electoral Registration Officers, Assistant Electoral Registration Officers of the district, representatives of political parties operating within the district, booth level officers, various election functionaries and representatives of print and electronic media attended the launch programme, which was followed by similar events at Electoral Registration Officer level by EROs of all the 13 assembly constituencies of Imphal West district.
Meanwhile, the campaign in Imphal East district was launched by Additional District Election Officer/ADM Polem Lenin Singh in the presence of all Electoral Registration Officers and Assistant Electoral Registration Officers of Imphal East District, Representative of Political Parties, District Level Officers, NGOs, CSOs at the DC office complex, Porompat.
While speaking on the sidelines of the event, Polem Lenin appealed to all the existing and citizen seeking registration in the electoral roll of the district to intimate his/her Aadhaar number to the Electoral Registration Officer/Assistant Electoral Registration Officers/Booth Level Officers concerned in Form 6B.Further, voters may also go through Voters Helpline Mobile App), National Voters' Services Portal site (www.
nvsp.in), Voter Portal (voterportal.eci.gov.in) to provide/link their Aadhaar Number, he pointed out.
