Imphal, February 26 2022:
The proscribed PREPAK- Progressive has called the ensuing election to the 12th Manipur Legislative Assembly as an instrument to bolster the suppressive regime of the Government of India and to show to the world that people of the state subscribe to the idea of India.
In a statement, PREPAK-Pro informed that election, in a democracy, is an important instrument to elect a popular government.
However, increasing incidents, of violence and rampant abuse of drugs and alcohol show that the ongoing election process is full of flaws.
It is a fraudulent election in which, the elected representatives wake up after five years of slumber and try to instil a false hope of bringing changes in the society among the public.
It is an election to elect the worst candidate, who can abuse power by flexing money and muscle power.
Interestingly, the contesting candidates are successfully instigating their supporters to carry out violent activities on their behalf while the public allow their' representatives to continue to exploit them for another five years.
Candidates are spending huge amount to get the post of MLA, which has become like a contract work.
The 176 candidates in the fray are spending anywhere between Rs 1 crore to Rs 50 crore in the election according to their capacity.
Election will past but its repercussion will continue to remain in the society creating enmity among the pe ople.
These huge amount they spent in the election could get them high return if they invest in a big company or keep it in banks.
The society can only come out of the dependent state when the agriculture sector is developed by improving irrigation facilities in order to become a self-reliant society in terms; of food.
However, the standard of candidates have come down to such a level that many of them begin to change party before getting home after receiving their winning certificate.
Shifting party allegiance in a matter of hours has become a common thing.
There is no candidate, who can boldly say that he/she will remain as a true revolutionary leader by staying in the opposition.
A trend of seeing only those in the ruling side as the true public representative is developing in the society.
Such situation shows that the election process of India has become an instrument of the suppressive regime, the statement said, while urging the public not to place their hopes on such elections.
Recalling how the annexation of Kangleipak into the Indian Union in 1949 sowed the seed of freedom struggle and armed movement, the statement said that the election is also an instrument to show to the world that the people of Kangleipak subscribe to the idea of India.
Hitler of Germany rose to absolute power through elections and he proved that one could easily hold political power if he/she is a skilled player in the "Art of Voting and Winning" .
But what a society need is the "Administrative Art" that comes from the heart.
As long as the society remains in an undemocratic state, elections will bring no change as seen for years.
The election has become a free but not fair election with candidates doing whatever they want in order to win.
Economist Intelligence Unit (EIU) had already defined India as a 'flawed democracy' and it is time for the people of Kangleipak to understand the emerging trend of election and stop wasting their precious times, the statement said.
It also urged the public not to place their hope in the election and choose NOTA option if they have to participate in the election to show that the public have no trust in the election.
