Although the reason behind the attack is not known, the locals have raised suspicion that the attack might have been the handiwork of rival parties as ex-pradhan G Bangkabihari is one of the main workers of NPP candidate ex-MLA S Subhaschandra.
Speaking to media, G Bangkabihari said he has no enmity with anyone and said the attack was highly condemnable.
He added that nonone should try to undermine the democratic right of the people to choose their representative freely and coerce anyone to vote for any particular.
He appealed for a free and fair election and urged the Government to ensure that the people involved in the incident are brought to book.
Meanwhile the locals of Kwakeithel Konjeng Leikai blocked the road in the area and staged sit-in condemning the attack at the residence of ex-pradhan who is also the general secretary of local club Manipur Young Association (MYA) .
