BJP to name some candidates after Dec 25

Imphal, December 13 2021:
Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) will be announcing the names of some of its candidates for the 12th Manipur Legislative Assembly Election scheduled for February-March next year, after December 25 .
According to sources, of the total 60 assembly constituencies in the state, there are some constituencies with around 4-5 intending BJP candidates.
In addition, there are some candidates who had initially planned to contest the polls from another political party, but joined BJP in constituencies already having sitting BJP MLAs.
On top of this, the party is in the midst of recruiting sitting MLAs of another political party in constituencies having BJP candidates from the last election.
Chief Minister N Biren had announced that more people sharing like-minded thoughts with the existing BJP MLAs will be joining the party.
On December 25, the country would be observing the birth anniversary of former PM Atal Bihari Vajpayee as Good Governance Day.
The BJP Parliamentary Board would then convene a meet after December 25, following which names of finalised candidates of some constituencies will be announced in the first phase.
The names of the final candidates for the 12th Manipur Legislative Assembly election are likely to be announced in three phases.
The assembly constituencies to be announced in the first phase will include the respective constituencies of CM N Biren (Heingang), Works minister Th Biswajit (Thongju), Education minister S Rajen (Lamsang) and deputy speaker Kongkham Robindro (Mayang Imphal) and others with less dispute for BJP tickets, the sources conveyed.
