Covid claims two more lives, infects 217

Imphal, February 05 2022:
The state on Saturday reported 217 new positive cases of Covid-19 out of 1756 samples tested in the last 24 hours, registering a daily positivity rate of 12.36 per cent, a slight reduction from Friday's 13.27 per cent.
Saturday also reported two fatalities which took the death toll to 2059 .
They were residents of Imphal East and Thoubal districts.
One of them had received second dose of Covid vaccine and the other was unvaccinated.
So far, the virus has claimed lives of 170 vaccinated people including 48 who have taken the second dose of Covid vaccine.
In the last 24 hours, 315 patients were discharged from home isolation (226), RIMS (7), JNIMS (16) and CCCs (66).The active caseload came down to 3793 out of which 1047 (27.60 per cent) are in home isolation.
There are 223 vacant beds available in JNIMS and 138 in RIMS but there is no updated information on bed availability in Covid Care Centres.
Out of the 16 districts, only three did not reported any fresh Covid cases on Saturday.
So far, the state has recorded 8873 positive cases and 57 fatalities since the beginning of the third wave of the pandemic.
The current month has reported 1405 new positive cases and 13 fatalities.
The weekly number of new cases and new fatalities are 2080 and 21 respectively.
According to official reports, 216 people (101 male & 115 female) out of the 217 fresh cases are from among the general population and one is a Central Armed Police Force (CAPF) jawan whose samples were confirmed at RIMS (12), JNIMS (23) and other testing centres (182) .
The positive cases from among the general population are from Imphal East (46), Imphal West (79), Thoubal (23), Bishnupur (17), Kakching (14), Kamjong (3), Kangpokpi (5), Tengnoupal (1), Ukhrul (5), Noney (1), Senapati (2), Chandel (5) and Churachandpur (15) .
All necessary measures like containment and contact tracing are in place.
The cumulative number of positive cases has reached 1,34,661 (general population - 1,29,688 and CAPF personnel - 4,973) .
Number of recovered cases is 1,28,809 (generalpopulation - 1,23,981 and CAPF personnel - 4,828) and number of active cases is 3793 (general population - 3655 and CAPF personnel - 138) .
The recovery rate is 95.65 per cent.
A total of 246 D-type and 96 B-type Oxygen cylinders have been made available to different health facilities in the last 24 hours.
Whereas, 10,554 vaccine doses were administered on Friday and it took the cumulative number of vaccinated people to 14,50,494 out of which 10,66,967 had received the second dose and 37,436 had received the precautionary doses.
As per data maintained by The People's Chronicle based on IDSP and CCR reports, number of total cases in different districts are Imphal West (47872), Imphal East (29878), Thoubal (9973), Churachandpur (10925), Kangpokpi (3074), Tamenglong (3404), Bishnupur (9621), Senapati (2428), Ukhrul (3165), Kakching (6759), Chandel (2659), Noney (1133), Tengnoupal (1168), Jiribam (1109), Kamjong (1028) and Pherzawl (465).Fatality counts in different districts are Imphal West (690), Imphal East (493), Thoubal (181), Churachan dpur (166), Kangpokpi (65), Tamenglong (15), Bishnupur (198), Senapati (11), Ukhrul (48), Kakching (119), Chandel (42), Noney (5), Tengnoupal (14), Jiribam (7), Kamjong (5) and Pherzawl (0) .
Data analysed by this daily shows that the rate of infection remains 43,397 confirmed cases per million population (based on projected population of 31,03,000 as per NCP report) against the national average of 30,023 CPM.
Test rate has improved to 4,95,535 tests per million population against the national average of 5,25,972 TPM.
Case fatality rate stands at 1.53 per cent.
In the past 24 hours, only 1756 samples were tested and the single day positivity rate was 12.36 per cent while the cumulative positivity rose to 8.76 per cent.
