VHUC celebrates 13th Foundation Day

The 13th Foundation Day of Voluntary Help Unit Committee (VHUC) was celebrated at Manipur Press Club here today.
The function was attended by Prof.M Amuba Singh, Medical Superintendent of RIMS as Chief Guest; Th Ashnikumar, president of VHUC as President while Dr A Barindra Sharma, Associate Prof, Dept of IHBT, RIMS and Dr Vivekananda, Managing Director, SRL Diagnostic (Padma Diagnostic Centre) as Guests of Honor.
Speaking on the occasion, Prof Amuba said that the VHUC, which was established in the aftermath of of June 18 incident has been rendering humanitarian service to the people and assured that the Committee will be provided all possible help from the side of RIMS.
Dr Barindra pointed out that there has been a gap between the supply and the demand of blood in the State and this needs to be filled so as to face shortage of blood in times of emergency.
He also observed that the topic of blood donation should be incorporated in school curriculum to make students understand the importance of blood in human survival.
Noting that a person who donated blood for five times is given a red card by RIMS Hospital as mark of recognition, he informed that a counter has been opened in the hospital especially for people who possess red card and they can avail of certain benefits provided by the hospital.
