Free Cataract Operations conducted

Loktak Power Station, NHPC Ltd has started conducting free cataract operations under the project 'Netra Jyoti' of its Corporate Social Responsibility-Sustainability Development (CSR-SD) Scheme as part of blindness control programme, said a release issued today by Dr KK Singh, Senior Deputy Chief Medical Officer, Loktak Power Station, Manipur.
The 3rd and 4th batches of the free cataract operation were held on June 12 and 19 respectively, while 18 cataract cases were operated successfully at Shija Hospitals & Research Institute, Imphal.
According to the release, NHPC Ltd.
provided free medicines, subsidised cost of operation with foldable IOL, transportation and fooding for the patients, and free spectacles shall also be distributed later.
So far, 32 cataract cases have been operated successfully in four batches during the current financial year.
Elderly persons having cataract/difficulty in seeing distant objects may contact the doctors at Project Hospital, Loktak/Leimatak or dispensary on working days in order to avail of the opportunity of free cataract operations, the release informed.
