Monsoon woes

Purul, June 20 2014 :
Peeved with the worsening condition of the Maram-Koide-Purul road, the Purul Youth and Students' Organization (PYSO), a powerful body in the area has warned the department concerned to look into the matter at the earliest.
The body in a statement said that with the onset of monsoon, the people of Lepaona and Chiilivai areas are facing immense hardship and problems in travelling on Purul-Maram road although a minor repairing was done in May this year.
Pointing out the poor quality of road repairing, PYSO alleged that the works were executed without stones and necessary items, and it has become dangerous to travel on the road.
Drawing the attention of the State PWD, PYSO demanded that necessary measures be put into action before any disaster happens.
It may be noted that Chiilivai area was cut-off from the mainland after heavy torrential rain lashed the area causing massive landslides last year.
PWD did not respond adequately though countless numbers of landslide had happened on the narrow road in the past compelling PYSO and villagers to repair their respective roads on their own.
