Imphal, June 20 2014 :
Clarifying that the ban announced on publishing developmental news related to Regional Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS) following ill treatment meted out to one of the journalists by its media advisor Laithangbam Iboyaima while trying to cull news report news from the hospital has not yet been lifted, All Manipur Working Journalists' Union (AMWJU) has appealed to all media houses in the State to abide by the decision taken in the general body meeting of the Union.
Addressing a press meet in this connection at Manipur Press Club here today, Wangkhemcha Shyamjai, president of AMWJU, said that the Union has been demanding the resignation of RIMS Media Advisor Laithangbam Iboyaima, not an apology and the demand was already conveyed to Director of RIMS Prof Shekharjit.
Shyamjai stated that the reported replacement of Laithangbam Iboyaima by Philips has also been found out to be only temporary arrangement while Iboyiama is out of station on medical ground.
Moreover, no order has been issued officially in connection with replacement of Iboyaima.
Maintaining that the reported agreement brought between the Editors' Guild and the hospital authority was an attempt to create rift amongst the media houses, Shyamjai pointed out that the demand for removal of Iboyaima from the post of Media Advisor of RIMS was unanimously taken by Standing Committee of AMWJU.
So, regarding this, the hospital authority should be concerned with the Union only and not with any third party.
He then pledged that AMWJU will not accept any offer or agreement other than the resignation of the erring Media Advisor of the hospital.
