VHUC observes foundation Day

Voluntary Health Unit Committee (VHUC), RIMS Hospital celebrated its 13th Foundation Day at Manipur Press Club today.
Medical Superintendent Prof Dr M Amuba, VHUC president Th Ashinikumar, Department of IHBT Associate Professor Dr A Barindra Sharma and SRL Diagnostics (Padma Diagonistics Centre) Managing Director Dr Vivekananda graced the function as chief guest, president and guests of honour respectively.
Dr M Amuba while speaking at the function lauded VHUC for its efforts towards providing medicines at subsidised rates to needy patients.
Saying that the body has been working in the service of the society with a sacrificial spirit Dr M Amuba assured all possible support and cooperation to VHUC regarding the matter.
In his keynote address, VHUC founder president Moirangthem Subhachandra said that VHUC was set up to provide assistance to those who were injured in people's uprising of June 18, 2001 .
The body extended all possible help to these persons till they were fully recovered from their injury, he added.
So far, VHUC has conducted 16 medical camps and 14 blood donation camps, Subhachandra said.
56 persons including six women donated blood in the last blood donation camp organised by VHUC, he added.
Later, the blood donors were feted at the function.
Elangbam Lokendra of Tera Sapam Leikai, who has donated blood 44 times since June 18, 2003 and his wife Elangbam Sheela, who has donated blood 42 times adjudged the best blood donors.
The function also observed that Dr A Barindra Sharma as one of the best donors so far.
