Imphal, June 20 2014 :
Former Nagaland Chief Minister and MP Neiphiu Rio strategic move to challenge the integrity of Manipur by forging an alliance with NDA would never bear fruits, said Congress MLA RK Anand.
Anand was speaking at the inaugural function of a new constructed community hall at Hiyanglam Maning Leikai within his home constituency at Naoriya Pakhanglakpa today.
He dubbed MP Neiphiu Rio as a 'rubber stamp' of the NSCN (IM) .
It was deplorable that bandh was imposed in the hill districts on June 18 when people were offering tributes to the martyrs of June 2001 historic mass movement.
Ethno-centric nationalism and nation building strategies for an exclusive community have no place in the history of Manipur.
Anand went on to ask if there is any community which does not have a unique character of their own.
Reminding that it was during the previous NDA Government which put Manipur in flames, Anand noted that the Bangkok Declaration was modified only because of the people's massive movement.
Now Neiphiu Rio, taking advantage of being an NDA partner, has been lobbying for Naga integration but he would never succeed.
Political leaders across the world are well aware of the Naga issue and their fundamental demands.
That is why, they are always in favour of the geo-political entity called Manipur, Anand asserted, The demand of alternative arrangement was deliberated at a CLP meeting and the Government has chalked out a strategy to face the political manoeuvre of alternative arrangement, said the Congress MLA.
The community hall inaugurated today was constructed with funds provided by MDS.
