Womenfolk demand safe release of driver

Demanding immediate release of bus driver Ingobi, around 100 women came from Khongjom and staged a protest demonstration at North AOC here in front of the bus ticket counters.
Accusing Winger van service operators of issuing travel tickets and operating inter-State van (Winger) service on the sly, the womenfolk checked all ticket counters of Winger service.
They also went up to Awang Sekmai and stopped all Winger service.
The bus drivers have been working for subsistence and they don't own any bus.
As such, they should not be subjected to undue harassment, said of the protesters while appealing for immediate and safe release of Ingobi.
Thokchom Ingobi (45) s/o Nimai was abducted by some armed persons suspected to be cadres of KCP-MC (Lamyanba Khuman) from Jakhlabanda, Assam in the intervening night of June 13 and 14 .
Ingobi from Khongjom Mamang Leikai was carrying passengers from Guwahati to Imphal when he was abducted mid way.
Taking strong exception to the abduction of their colleague, the All Manipur Night Super Drivers Welfare Association has already launched an indefinite hands-off steering agitation since yesterday.
