SOREPA forms new central committee
Source: Chronicle News Service

Imphal, April 27 2022: While saluting heroes who fought valiantly against the colonial British Army in the Anglo-Manipuri War, 1891, the armed Socialist Revolutionary Party (SOREPA), Kangleipak has informed that the outfit has formed its own central committee.

According to a SOREPA statement issued by its publicity secretary MC Yaiphabi, the nine-member central committee was formed to carry on armed movement of the outfit to regain sovereign status of Manipur (Kangleipak) and bring an egalitarian society.

The central committee is being led by Toijam Ibochouba as chairman.

Other members of the committee are K Korou as general secretary, Chingyang Meitei as military affairs secretary, Angou Khuman as finance secretary, Lamngakpa Meetei as cultural secretary, MC Yaiphabi as organisation & publicity secretary, Kh Nongyin as associate member (military affairs), M Malemnganba Khuman as associate member (foreign & regional affairs) and L Araba as as sociate member (finance).

The new central committee was formed on Wednesday (April 27, 2022) with the firm commitment of continuing the armed movement till regaining sovereign status of Kangleipak/Manipur and a united WESEA while following footsteps of Kanglei forefathers who fought valiantly against enemies in the past.

The statement also declared that outfit's armed wing will be known as Peo-file's Revolutionary Army PRA) with immediate effect and donations will be collected in the name of finance secretary Angou Khuman from now on instead of finance-in-charge Keirungba in the past.

SOREPA also placed its firm commitment to the people that the outfit will work'towards unifying all the armed groups of WESEA region for waging a collective fight particularly with like-minded groups.

It also vowed support to policies and thoughts shared by armed outfits of the region for waging a collective liberation movement though having different ideologies.

While stating people might have seen mistake of the ongoing liberation movement being waged by different groups, SOREPA appealed to people to identify the errors without any hesitation and suggest remedial measures.

On the fear gripping some sections of people that indigenous people of Kangleipak irrespective of poor and rich and big and small communities would be uprooted in near future in view of ongoing seen and unseen subjugation policies of imperialist India, SOREPA said that this national question heed careful study and discussion among Kanglei people.

India is using soft tools to completely subjugate Kangleipak and WESEA people after AFSPA failed to do so and accordingly launched a cultural genocide so that people of the region willingly accept Indian hegemony.

On one side India brought cheers to people of the region by lifting AFSPA from certain areas and assured of taking up steps to completely remove the draconian legislation.

But on the other side, India used soft tool and pushed for making Hindi compulsory till class X standard in WESEA region, the SOREPA statement pointed out, adding that this step is being taken up after careful study of the importance of Hindi language in spreading Hindu colonialism by RSS, which handles the present government of India.

India does not want people of WESEA including Kangleipak to think that they are living as slaves of India while colonising the region and the step is being initiated to encourage emerging generation of WESEA region to think they are also part of the Hindu lifestyle and system.

This indeed is biting at the backbone of Kangleipak and WESEA society, SOREPA said, adding that national contradiction between Aryan dominated India and the WESEA including Kangleipak will be clear when people of the region understand the logic behind pushing outsiders into the region and forcing to learn their languages and accepting their lifestyle as the best.

The SOREPA statement further said that liberation movement for social equality in WESEA including Kangleipak could push forward successfully if the people carefully understand the national contradiction between indigenous people originated from Luit, Barak and Ningthi valleys and the Indo-Aryan groups developed from Indo-Gangetic plains.

The outfit then urged people to bring out ideas and thoughts in this regard for discussion so that a new egalitarian society could be established.
