Fertiliser distribution on July 13: Bishnupur DAO

While assuring that efforts will be made to prevent shortage of fertilisers, District Agriculture Officer (DAO) Bishnupur U Somendro Singh has informed that the first phase of distribution of fertilisers to farmers of the district will be carried out on July 13 .
Speaking to newspersons at his office on Thursday, Somendro informed that the total area of arable land in Bishnupur District is 21,800 hectares and the required quantity of fertilisers is 60,000 bags (45 kg per bag) .
Of this, the District Agriculture Office has acquired 10,000 bags for the first phase and they are currently in its warehouse.
Farmers can take the bags on July 13 after producing relevant documents such as Aadhaar and land deed, along with payment of Rs 266.80.Stating that the department will try its level best to prevent shortage of fertilisers this year, he urged farmers to strictly observe Covid-19 SOP while purchasing the fertilisers.
However, the best method would be to engage sincere clubs/organisations to take the charge of purchasing the items and distributing the same to farmers to avoid unnecessary gathering and overcrowding, he suggested.
Somendro further informed that 4.12 metric tonnes of rice and 200kg of maize seeds have been distributed for plantation in 325 paddy fields of the district, while 24.18 metric tonnes of CM 12 and 13 have been distributed through the Extension Officers.
In addition, 5,435 micro nutrients have also been distributed.
Urging farmers to consult department experts to prevent insect infestation, he informed that 15 metric tonnes of nutrients are reserved and efforts are on to provide further assistance wherever required.
