NDA exam: State's 17-yr-old among top rankers

Imphal, July 08 2021:
A 17-year-old male of Manipur has secured 27th rank in the National Defence Academy and Naval Academy Examinations (II) held in September last year as eight candidates from the state cleared the examinations, the results of which were declared on July 6 .
The eight state natives, who have cleared the examination, are Namoijam Naoba Meetei (rank 27), Mayanglambam Lucky Singh (rank 210), Meghnath Soibam (rank 405), Thokchom Siddharth Singh (rank 414), Muhammad Zakariyyah (rank 427), Mayanglambam Denish Singh (rank 440), Ramesh Singh Lourembam (rank 443) and Ronendro Angom (rank 476).Born to Namoijam Naran and Premila Leima of Khonghampat Khunou, Naoba cleared the examination in his first attempt.
He appeared in the examination while preparing for the higher secondary examination when he was studying in class 12.Family sources said that since his childhood, Naoba developed a liking of Indian Army and his school days at Sainik School, Imphal kept the flame of his ambition alive.
Though his parents want him to try JEE or other technical examinations, he stuck to his ambition and cleared the NDA/NA examination in his first attempt while securing 27th rank, they said.
On the other hand, Muhammad Zakariyyah, the lone successful candidate from among the minority communities of the state, is son of Md Ashraf Ali (retired BDO) and Mumtaz Begum of Yairipok Tulihal Heirong Road, Imphal East.
He studied at Sainik School Imphal from class 6 to 12 and he had already cleared JEE (Mains) with 80 per cent marks.
Manipur Muslim Online Forum (MMOF) has congratulated Zakariyyah on his success in the examination.
Meanwhile, a PIB statement issued in this regard informed that the results of medical examination have not been taken into account in preparing the list of 478 successful candidates.
The candidature of all the candidates is provisional, subject to their submitting the requisite certificates in support of date of birth and educational qualifications claimed by them directly to the Additional Directorate General of Recruiting, Adjutant General's Branch, Integrated Headquarters, Ministry of Defence (Army).
In case, there is any change of address, the candidates are advised to promptly intimate directly to the Army Headquarter at the given address.
