Khudengthabi village fully vaccinated: Tengnoupal DC

Out of 38,431 people above 18 years of age residing in Tengnoupal district, 17,959 people have been administered Covid vaccine till Wednesday.
In an awareness cum Covid vaccination programme conducted at S Khudengthabi Baptist Church complex on Thursday, Tengnoupal district deputy commissioner Naorem Praveen declared that Churachandpur district has become the first district to successfully conduct Covid vaccination drive among the hill districts in Manipur and Tengnoupal district holds the second position.
Out of the several villages in Tengnoupal district, Khudengthabi village has become the first fully vaccinated village in the hill districts, he announced, while stating that as different communities reside in the Indo-Myanmar border town Moreh they previously thought that it would be difficult to make the people aware about vaccination.
However, success in vaccinating the eligible group of people in Khudengthabi village which falls under Moreh subdivision has given a strong message to the people.
District Immunisation officer (DIO) Kh Gojen Singh explained that people who are advised against taking the Covid vaccine include those with HIV-CD-4 count below 500, Covid positive patients and those suffering from fever.
Informing that people under 18 years of age are not eligible to take the Covid vaccine in India, Gojen said that several other countries have begun inoculating people below 18 years.
He asserted that the only way to prevent Covid-19 from spreading is through vaccination.
Around 113 people were jabbed during the awareness cum vaccination programme, which was also attended by additional deputy commissioner (ADC) Moreh K Jadumani Singh, SDO Moreh I Dineshkumar Singh, CMO Tengnoupal Dr Lamkhoneng Haokip, Dr Sweety Thangneo of Moreh Sub-district hospital and M/O-in-charge of PHC Moreh Dr Kh Santikumar Singh among others.
