AR celebrates Van Mahotsav

Imphal, July 08 2021:
Assam Rifles Battalions under IGAR (South) celebrated Van Mahotsav in collaboration with Forest Department on Wednesday.
According to PRO IGAR (S) the drive was organised with an aim to promote 'Go Green Initiatives' and spread awareness about climate change and global warming amongst the civilians.
During the drive saplings of various types of trees were planted.
Civilians of town were also educated about the importance of trees in maintaining ecological balance.
In another release, the PRO informed that Loktak Battalion celebrated Van Mahotsav and organised tree plantation in the erstwhile poppy cultivation belt of Dampi Ridge in Churachandpur district on Wednesday.
AR troops and the villagers jointly planted saplings of various types of trees on the occasion with an aim to help and guide the villagers and youth in moving on from poppy cultivation and to find an alternate means of livelihood.
The tree plantation was organised in collaboration with locals of adjoining villages of Sarangphai and Dampi.
