11 sites in IW declared micro C-zones

In view of surge in Covid-19 cases in some parts of the district, Imphal West district administration has declared 11 areas in the district as micro-containment zones till July 14 to contain spread of the pandemic.
The district administration also ordered strict enforcement of containment measures.
In a letter to SP Imphal West, deputy commissioner Th Kirankumar stated that some significant hotspots/locations based on the number of Covid-19 positive cases tested in the last few days have been identified at Meitram Awang Leikai (71 positive cases), Moidangpok Aheibam Leikai (25), Sagolband Nepra Menjor (11), Sekmai Awang Leikai (12), Sekmaijin Thongam (26), Tera Tongbram Leikai (18), Heirangoithong Maibam Leikai (15), Lamboikhongnangkhong (17), Langthabal Kunja (13), Uripok Polem Leikai (13) and Yumnam Huidrom (16) .
The DC directed that restrictive measures should be strictly enforced in these micro-containment zones and regularly visited by the law enforcement agencies.
Teams of the police station concerned should carry out rounds at the micro-containment zones twice a day to ensure that people do not move out and Covid Appropriate Behaviour and other SOPs are strictly maintained.
Proper signage must be put in conspicuous places, movement sealed, mandatory testing of all members in the micro containment zones, etc., must be carried out till the end of containment period, it said.
Kirankumar further ordered that police should coordinate with local clubs/Covid Task Force of the locality for identification of the micro-containment zones, strict monitoring and enforcement, reporting of irregular activities in the areas, etc.
Meanwhile, a state government team on Thursday inspected the areas declared as micro-containment zones in Imphal West district.
The team comprising principal secretary (Health & Family Welfare) V Vumlumang, ADGP L Kailun, DC Imphal West Th Kirankumar and higher officials of Health Department visited Lamboikhongnangkhong, Uripok Polem Leikai, Tera Tongbram Leikai, Sagolband Nepra Menjor, etc., to ascertain the situation and conducted meeting with local club and Meira paibi representatives to discuss measures needed to be taken to control the spread of Covid-19 infection.
