PFA Manipur rescues animals

Urva Sharma, a research biologist of Wildlife Institute of India visited PFA Manipur's Animal Shelter yesterday.
She was coming all the way from Rajasthan to visit northeast.
She said that she is pleased to find people who love wildlife in Manipur.
A press release issued by L Biswajeet Meitei, Managing Trustee of PFA Manipur quoted Urva Sharma as saying that people of northeast were quite friendly and there are also animal lover, quite different from what she was told and heard about northeast.
Urva who is also an artist drew a pencil sketch of Amur falcon before us and gifted it to PFA, said the release while informing that Urva works in Tiger projects and research on turtles.
Meanwhile PFA Manipur raided Ikop Lake after a solid input of poaching birds.
During the raid, PFA collected seven number of big bird nets found setting at the paddy fields near the lake.
A team of poachers managed to escape, but they left two single barrel rifles which PFA had handed over to Thoubal Police for verification.
About a week back, one O Naoton of Kyamgei Maning Leikai handed over a flightless common coot and a juvenile Malayan Box Turtle.
The coot succumbed next day likely due to food poisoning.
In another incident, one Huirom Doren Meitei of Yairipok top chingtha handed over an injured White breasted water hen.
