Imphal, December 11 2014:
Expressing regret over the burning issue of suspension of Manipuri boxer Laishram Sarita by the governing body of World Boxing, Lourembam Tiken who had represented India in the World Cup Hockey has cited that the world class boxer should have behaved more generously instead of putting up a show displaying a behavior that was not appropriate for a player of her class and caliber.
Talking to Hueiyen Lanpao Daily, the international player, while suggesting the essence of discipline as an attribute of any player, said that besides talents and personal abilities, a player must maintain decorum on and off the field.
Mr Tiken also concluded that the Korean opponent upon whom Sarita reacted by hurling her own medal must have feel quite dismayed by her response, while observing that the act of the Boxer was something not expected by him.
On the other hand, he demanded that the concerned authorities of the country should come up with necessary actions to safeguard the career of the promising female boxer.
