NPO public rally calls for boycotting anti-people activities

Coming out strongly against recent incidents of planting of bomb at DC office, levying illegal taxes by different armed groups/ Government departments and anti-people activities reported during recent months, a public rally was organized by NPO in collaboration with frontal bodies and Tribe Hohos at Senapati today.
Over 1000 people comprising different communities in the main DHQ town participated the NPO led Public Rally.
Tribe Hohos, student leaders, women leaders, intellectuals, business establishments came out to express its concern over the disturbing development in the District while large banners and placards were carried along the rally to send out a clear message of discontentment and resentment among the people.
Concluding the rally, the NPO and frontal bodies read out a common declaration stating that, any form of anti-people activities by any group or individual will be socially boycotted.
Placards during the rally had slogans like 'Stop Illegal Tax' 'Stop anti-people activities' 'Respect people's sentiment' 'Let us protect public property' 'give peace a change' 'we condemn violence' .
Gathering at the local ground after the rally, NPO outgoing president M.L Markson briefed the congregation about the menace of anti-social elements which is undermining the rights of the general people with bomb, threats, violence and illegal taxation by different armed groups and Government departments through different reasons.
The apex body leader stated that, the people are saddened and devastated by any form of violence especially the factional fights among the armed groups while adding that any form of bullet and bomb culture must be stopped immediately and encourage pro-people activities.
He also narrated that percentage deduction system of Government departments and different armed groups has caused serious hindrance to developing the District.
It may be noted that, the apex body NPO along with tribe Hohos has condemned the act of planting bomb at DC office on November 28 for monetary reasons.
In the backdrop of increasing reports of extortions, hijacking vehicles along the NH-2 by armed groups and miscreants, sending threat sms and letters to government departments and rampant practice of percentages system levied by both armed groups and government departments, the frontal bodies held a joint meeting on December 8 and decided to organize the public rally.
