Gaikhangam calls for maximum exposure to local products

Calling upon the people to abstain from anti-social activities but instead move forward towards better production of indigenous items to enhance economy of the State, Deputy Chief Minister Gaikhangam stressed the need for expanding contributions of enterprises to develop the society.
He was speaking as chief guest during the inauguration of a ten-day Imphal Expo 2014 being organized by National Small Industries Corporation Limited, A Government of India Enterprise at Iboyaima Shumang Leela Shanglen, Palace Compound today.
Gaikhangam asserted that it is high time to give more exposure to local made products to facilitate financial status of the State, while adding that in the absence of large scale industry in the State, more small and medium industries can be set up to enhance production of local products.
Acknowledging that the State is blessed by nature with its people extremely talented in many fields, the Dy CM maintained that the State despite its small geographical size is a potential place for advance innovation and initiation.
The theory of self-reliance adopted by many people especially youths of the State is a good sign.
Moreover, inter-partnership venture has proved purposeful for the State, he said.
Conceding that the State of Manipur has brought laurels to the country in various fields including art & culture, sports, film and theatre; Gaikhangam lauded National Small Industries Corporation Ltd for coming up with such useful expo.
T Rajen, Additional Director of Commerce & Industries who was present on the occasion as guest of honor said that National Small Industries Corporation Ltd has been giving schemes from time to time to facilitate self-employment which people should be aware of it.
He exuded confidence that the corporation would come up with more schemes and measures in future meant for welfare of the society.
Besides L Lakher, Principal Secretary (Commerce & industries) who graced as president, today's function was also attended by JK Mahanta, Chief General Manager of NSIC Ltd, East & North East Zone as gues t of honor.
