Dy CM graces Zillai jubilee, promises community hall

Deputy Chief Minister Gaikhangam today graced the concluding day of Zillai platinum jubilee at Kangvai and encouraged the Vaiphei students' body to continue its selfless service for the welfare of the students and continue to strive to be an instrument of peace and unity.
Lauding the Vaiphei community for their achievements and talents, the Deputy Chief Minister said that the tribe is one among the myriad communities that have been blessed more than the others.
Besides building a good reputation, one has to work endlessly to learn and attain greater heights, he said.
He also contributed Rs 1 lakh in cash to the celebration committee and promised to build a multipurpose community hall with funds from Tribal Affairs and Hills.
Outer Manipur MP Thangso Baite, who also graced the celebration narrated the community's past history of being a pioneer in multifarious fields particularly in the advent of Christianity in the district and advised them to follow the footpath of their forefathers.
Today's event also saw the distribution of Zillai awards to meritorious individuals and students.
The evening programme was attended by Agriculture Minister Md Abdul Nasir, ADGP LM Khaute.
Besides several MLAs and MDCs witnessed the Zillai Miss Platinum contest.
