Imphal, March 16 2019:
Chief Ministergi Hakshelgi Tengbang (CMHT) scheme has little meaning, said parents of a 15 year old National gold medallist in Pencak Silat (Martial Art) who was operated for a major head injury at Raj Medicity after meeting an accident.
The boy, Wakabam Jayachandra was riding a bicycle when he was hit by a Tata DI on March 10 at Nongren village.
Speaking to media persons at Manipur Press Club today, Wakabam Sanjit and W (O) Sushima from Pungdongbam Awang Leikai said that their son was first taken to Jawaharlal Nehru Institute of Medical Sciences (JNIMS) for treatment.
The hospital authority referred their son to RIMS for treatment as they "lack facilities", Sanjit said, adding that same response was given by Regional Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS) officials, who suggested them to take their son to either Shija Hospital or Raj Medicity for the required treatment.
Jayachandra was finally admitted to Raj Medicity and an emergency operation was conducted after the test result detected a hole in his skull, said the father.
He was later admitted at the hospital's ICU for further treatment and observation.
The Tata DI driver involved in the accident paid Rs 65,000 to the hospital, said Sanjit.
Jayachandra has been discharged from the ICU and is being treated at the common ward of the hospital, he said adding that there is still a pending bill of Rs 74,737 to be paid to the hospital to obtain discharge letter.
While inquiring about the benefits of CMHT card he has, the hospital officials told him that "there is no such facility at present", Sanjit said appealing the State Government for assistance to bring his son home.
CMHT card should cover such serious injuries, said Sanjit who has little means to come up with the Rs 74,737 required for his son's discharge from the hospital.
