YWC cruise to 2nd Heibok Trophy title

Young Welfare Club (YWC) Langthabal beat Re-Young Star (REYS), Nagamapal by 2 wickets in an edge of the seat final match to win the title of the 2nd Heibok T-20 Cricket Tournament organised by Langthabal Sporting Club under the aegis of Manipur Cricket Association at Langthabal Public Ground.
The final match of the tournament was graced by Nishikant Singh Sapam, publisher, The Sangai Express; L Roshan Singh, Zilla Parishad Member; Chongtham Chaoba Singh, president, Manipur Library Association and Th Ibomcha Singh, president of Langthabal Sporting Club as dignitaries who also feted the winners, runners up and other individual prize winners during closing ceremony.
REYS which finished runners up in the first edition also, won the toss and posted 127 runs for 8 in 20 overs after electing to bat first.
Rishikanta shone with the bat as he managed 39-ball 52 to become the highest scorer for REYS while Tynison and Jayenta also added 13 and 15 runs.
Priyokumar of YWC was the most successful bowler in this innings with 2 wickets registered in his name while Sobachandra and Prakash picked up one wicket each.
In reply, YWC reached the target with two balls left to play and two wickets left in the hand as REYS bowlers made an early breakthrough dismissing YWC top orders.
Anand, however anchored the innings well and steered YWC to the victory with his unbeaten 19-ball 33 runs contribution.
Sobachandra was on the other end with 11 runs not out after Bikramjit departed making 16 runs to set up the close win.
Rishikanta and Jackichan managed 2 wickets each in this innings but failed to trouble the middle order in time.
Anand of YWC was eventually named man of the match.
Winners, YWC were feted with Rs 50,000 and a trophy while runners up REYS were awarded Rs 30,000.Nanao of SCCC, Singjamei bagged the man of the series title and a cash prize of Rs 2,000 along with a trophy for his 161 runs and 5 wicket feat while Rinju of PRTC was feted with highest run scorer prize worth Rs 2000 for his 164 runs feat.
Jackychan of Re-Young Star, Nagamapal who had 11 wickets in his name was feted with highest wicket taker award worth Rs 2,000 along with a trophy while man of the final match, Anand got Rs 2,000 and a trophy.
Jayanta of REYS and Rinju of PTRC jointly won the award for most sixer of the tournament with 5 sixes in their name.
Alfresh of FORCE was adjudged best wicketkeeper of the tournament.
They were also honoured each with Rs 2,000 and trophy.
