Kom VA sends SOS to CM

Ichum Keirap Kom Village Authority, Bungte Chiru-Block, Kangpokpi district has written to chief minister N Biren appealing for immediate government intervention to save the life and property of villagers of Ichum Keirap Kom village from anti-social elements and refugees supported by miscreants and militant outfits claiming to be Kukis.
In a letter sent to the CM on Friday, Ichum Keirap Kom VA chief L Rekhupsong Kom stated that the villagers are peace loving and law abiding indigenous people of Manipur, but some refugees settled in their village backed by powerful Kuki organisations of the area are planning to forcefully grab and drive them out from their ancestral land on or before May 15 .
It has also been reported that they (refugees) have amassed large cache of weapons and mobilised manpower to attack the village to forcefully drive them out.
They have already occupied a hall and are threatening the villagers, it claimed.
Ichum Keirap Kom VA also emphasised that the use of militant outfits and powerful Kuki bodies to threaten, attack and grab the land of poor and helpless Kom community is totally against the law and Constitution of India.
The village authority had on earlier occasion also filed petitions to the chief minister and authorities concerned in this regard, it maintained and appealed to the chief minister to order immediate deployment of police and security personnel in the village, so that law and order is maintained.
As there is high chance of law and order problem and discord in the area, the District Police of Kangpokpi and the police station nearest to the village i.e., Nambol police station should be directed to take up precautionary action against conspirators, it further demanded.
