National Sanitation Campaign kicks off in Ukhrul, Chandel

Ukhrul, September 25 2014: The National Sanitation Campaign was on Thursday launched in Ukhrul with participation of students and members from different localities of the district headquarters.

In the official launching function of the National Sanitation Campaign organized at DRDA training hall, deputy commissioner Modak Hrisheekesh Arvind graced as chief guest and flagged off a rally from the mini secretariat premises.

"The entire administration�all government departments are involved in the campaign.

It is being taken up on warlike footing," he said.

More than 1000 participants including students and members of different localities of Ukhrul headquarters attended the programme.

All district level officers comprising additional deputy commissioner (ADC) Dipu Gangmei, SDO Worshang, SDC Christainhome Huileng among others also took part in the function.

He said the campaign has been basically started in Ukhrul, while adding a series of related programme will be carried out intensively to spread awareness among the public.

The programme include campaign through audio-visual van, tableau, hoarding, cleanliness drive, street play, painting competition and observance of world hand washing day. The DC informed that the campaign is being launched in line with the instructions issued by the Central government ministry.

The campaign was also kicked off in Chandel district today at the district head quarters by Deputy Commissioner of Chandel Robert Singh Kshetrimayum today.

Our Chandel Correspondent adds, 'in connection with the programme, a rally was also held wherein Chandel SDO Kilu Siva Kumar Naidu, about 300 school students and teachers, representatives of the CSOs including CNPO led by its president Ws Kanral Anal, Chandel CMO and its officials, officials from the ZEO, PHED and Japhou bazaar authority chairman Js Angam were also present.

Banners and placards on sanitation issues were held by the students during the rally flagged off from the DC complex and preceded towards Japhou Bazar super market complex where a public gathering was held.
