Sensitization workshop held

CSIR, NEIST and NDMA held a one day workshop on School Sensitization Workshops in Earthquake Vulnerable North eastern States at CSIR North east institute of Sciences and Technology, Branch laboratory Lamphelpat today.
The workshop was graced by Science and technology Information Manipur director Uttam C Laishram, Manipur Science and Technology Council, Imphal director Th Surendranath Singh, Imphal West chief medical officer Dr S Bimolakumari devi, CSIR, Jorhat chief scientist Dr R Duarah and Earthquake scenario project's team coordinator Dr RS Saxena as chief guest, president and guest of honour respectively.
Speaking on the occasion, Uttam C Laisram said it is of utmost importance to educate school children about the preventive measures to be taken up during an earthquake.
A natural phenomena, earthquakes usually takes place without warnings.
It is important therefore to educate school/college going students and teachers the necessary measures to be taken up in case it hits them during school/college hours.
The workshop further discussed Earthquake safety with the attending students.
