Imphal, September 25 2014:
Camping of four suspended BJP members at Delhi for a prolonged period and their campaign to replace the president of BJP Manipur State unit are being done at the instigation of the Congress party, charged BJP State unit president Th Chaoba.
Allowing some suspended BJP members to camp at Manipur Delhi Bhavan for more than four months in blatant violation of the general rule that no individual can be accommodated at the Bhavan for more than one week is the first of its kind in the political history of Manipur, Chaoba said.
Speaking at the 98th birth anniversary of Pandit Deen Dayal Upadhyay at BJP office today, Th Chaoba said that the some expelled members have been camping at Delhi with a view to replace him at the instigation of Congress party.
All the charges levelled against suspended party members have been apprised to the party's Central leadership.
The expelled members may be pardoned if they apologise for their misdeeds, he declared.
The victory of the BJP candidate in the Kakching Municipal Council by-election was a victory of the party but when the by-election to Hiyanglam A/C is just round the corner, some people have been propagating negative propaganda as if BJP is hopeless.
Befitting action would be initiated against them, Chaoba said.
Stating that he was never involved in any corruption scandal in his 50 years long political career, Chaoba dismissed the allegation that he took Rs one crore in connection with a crisis in RIMS as baseless.
If supportive evidence and convincing explanations could not be furnished, necessary actions would be initiated against those who levelled the allegations, Chaoba warned.
"If they can give evidence, I'm ready to go to jail",
Chaoba said.
It is highly unlikely that documents seized by CBI in connection with corruption cases would be shown to any people.
If any documents were shown, it should be assumed as pre-meditated.
Abolition of graft practices is one primary agenda of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's 'Clean India campaign', Chaoba said.
Former president M Bhorot said that he was ashamed of the internal wranglings.
It would be morally shattering to both the BJP State unit as well as Central leaders if the party loses in Hiyanglam by-poll when the party has a whooping 282 MPs.
Bhorot further called upon all the party members to work collectively to avoid such an embarrassing situation.
