Development works in Tousem inspected; Medical Equipment provided to Tousem PHC

Tamenglong, November 07 2014 :
Z.Kikhonbou Newmai, Vice Chairman Hill Area Committee, Govt.of Manipur along with the officials of the state health department inspected the health institutions and developmental works taken up in Tousem Sub- Division of Tamenglong district.
During the interaction with the Chief Medical Officer, Tamenglong at District Hospital Tamenglong, Z.Kikhonbou Newmai, the MLA of 52/Tamei and Vice Chairman of Hill Area Committee said that all the office buildings of Chief Medical Officers in Manipur state have not been constructed for the last 30 years.
All offices of chief Medical officers remained in depilated condition, he added.
The inspection team comprised Dr Shyamjai, Deputy Director (Health services); Dr.Surchandra, Joint Director, Health services; Dr.O Mohindro, Central Medical Store, Health services; Achan Ragui, UNICEF Consultant; I Rajen, SPR in charge Manipur; Dr Robindro, AYUSH and Dr Benedict SNO/ AYUSH; Dhaneswor Singh Executive Engineer MDS; Imocha Singh, Asst Engineer, MDS and others officials.
.ZKikhonbou Newmai continued that 'in order to meet the shortage of doctors and nurses in the state, recruitment has been conducted and result is being declared soon'.

As Doctors and nurses from the valley always confine in valley areas only, recruitment of local persons is necessary.
However, local people are not found suitable for the job, he added.
"For recruiting local people, 50% of ST reservation is provided, we are looking for MBBS among local students.
The government is planning to recruit nurses from the spot as valley people always want to stay at their posting places", Kikhonbou stated.
Dr Chambo Gonmei, Chief Medical Officer Tamenglong reminded the Vice Chairman HAC and health officials to set up blood bank in the district hospital and to post competent doctors to handle all the machineries available at the district referral hospital.
He also asked the official team to revive the defunct primary health centre at Sonpram, Awangkhul and Khongsang villages.
After inspection at District Hospital Tamenglong the team also went to remotest sub- division of Manipur, Tousem where a public meeting also held at Tousem sub- Division HQs.

poured out their grievances during the meeting.
The participants in the meeting articulated, 'many precious lives were lost due to lack of health facility and lack of connectivity in the sub- division' .
The frontal organisations of Tousem also pressed the inspection team to upgrade the high school into high secondary school.
Teachers are posted but none of the teachers comes to school.
There is no electric current though electric ware has been hanging from post to post, they fumed.
After listening patiently, Z.Kikhonbou, Vice Chairman HAC stated that the state government did not neglect the sub- division but the government under the leadership of Chief Minister O Ibobi Singh has concern for people and put top priority on education sector, health and social sector.
He said many on-going big projects are going to be completed and almost all the villages in Tousem sub-Division have been electrified.
Due to machine failure at Rengpang power station, electric could not be supplied, he added.
A sum of Rs.one lakh has been given to complete the community hall.
The official team also brought one ultra-sound, one generator, one ambulance, water sintex tank, solar penal, medical kids, operation lamb and wheel chair for the primary health centre at Tousem.
In the meantime, the VACC Tousem in a press statement expressed profound gratitude to the Vice Chairman HAC, Z Kikhonbou and medical department for providing ultra- sound machine to primary health centre Tousem.
The statement signed by TR Ringthengning, Chairman VACC Tousem also thanked each and every individual, organisations for the jungle clearance and filling of potholes, rain drainage leveling of Tamenglong-Halflong road from the point, Barak to Tousem village.
