'Adherence to discipline and perseverance vital for students during schooling'

'Students should adhere to discipline and perseverance during their schooling and maintain these qualities throughout their lives in order to take them a long way', noted Govindas Konthoujam, Minister of Commerce & Industries, Veterinary & Animal Husbandry and Sericulture while attending the 15th Foundation Day celebration of Herbert School at Ghari, Imphal West today.
Speaking as chief guest, Minister Govindas conceded that Herbert School has been producing many bright students because of the hard work and dedication put in collectively by students and teachers of the school.
Announcing that an award for meritorious students of the school would be constituted in the name of his father-in-law, the minister asserted that he himself would apprise the government of the lack of infrastructure and facilities in the school hostels.
C Arthur W who was present at the occasion as guest of honor exhorted the students to strive for excellence in their studies by putting hard work and dedication.
As part of the programme, a total of 17 awards including Priyadarshini Memorial Award constituted in memory of Athokpam Priyadarshini from Kongpal, a meritorious student of the school who passed away just after the announcement of medical examination, were presented to six teachers and several Class XII students who clinched high marks in the 2014 examination.
Today's function was also attended by Dr K Nabachandra, principal of Herbert School and Prof W Nabakumar, Director of Centre for Mynamar Studies & South East Asian Studies, Manipur University as president and guest of honor respectively.
