Girl 'raped', victim family threatened

Close on the heels of the rape and murder of a young girl at Tharoijam, a physically and mentally challenged girl has been allegedly raped at Nambol, Bishnupur district following which the accused's elder brother has been repeatedly threatening to eliminate the whole family of the victim.
According to information culled from the spot, a 17 year old disabled girl was allegedly raped by a boy of her age inside her room taking advantage of the solitary situation at around 7.30 am of November 4 .
The accused belongs to Nambol Kongkham Awang Leikai while the victim belongs to the adjacent locality.
The accused was caught red handed by an elder brother of the victim and the accused was handed over to people of the locality.
After the accused was thrashed and chastised, the matter was hushed up following understanding between the two families.
However, Chingkham Premkumar (30), the accused's elder brother threatened the victim family saying that he would eliminate all family members of the victim.
Subsequently, the local club and Meira Paibis filed a report at Nambol police station.
Speaking to media persons today, the victim's mother said that she was asked not to go through Kongkham Awang Leikai as she was returning home from Nambol Bazar yesterday afternoon apart from physically attempting to hold her back.
The victim is the youngest of five daughters and one son born to her parents.
Her father works as a chowkidar at a private firm while her mother is a housewife.
The accused is still free.
