A prime witness deposed before the Sessions Court, Manipur East in the Ningombam Satyabhama murder case today.
Ningombam Nilakanta of Kakwa was a seizure witness when a police team recovered a broken SIM card from the complex of Irilbung police station following accused Kshetrimayum Biju's revelation.
It is said that Biju communicated with Satyabhama through this SIM card before he allegedly murdered her.
The SIM card was given to him by Toijam James with whom Satyabhama had a love affair.
It is also said that another SIM card through which Biju called out Satyabhama in the intervening night of April 2 and 3 on the pretext of taking her to James, had been thrown to Iril river.
The Court took around two and a half hours in recording the statement of Nilakanta, who is prosecution witness number 22 of the case.
After the defence counsel cross examined the seizure witness, the Court was adjourned till November 21 .
The accused persons - Kshetrimayum Biju alias Holendro (29) s/o Ksh Ibochou of Irilbung Thongkhong, Thoudam Jiban (28) s/o late Th Thoiba of Irilbung Machahal Mayai Leikai and Toijam Thesis alias Aboi alias James (28) of Thambalkhong Sabal Leikai - who are currently lodged in Sajiwa Central Jail, were also produced before the Court during today's hearing.
Ningombam Satyabhama was found murdered at Wangkhei Loumanbi Loukon under Irilbung police station at around 1.30 pm on April 5, 2013 .
